T’was The Night Before Christmas

We celebrated Christmas at Peggy's house this year on Christmas Eve.  All of our celebrating was done at home with our family of 4 last year so it was nice to be back to somewhat normal this year.  Evangeline made a very cool stop motion animation video with her Calico Critters to the poem "T'was the Night Before Christmas" and dedicated it to her Ammie for her Christmas present to her.  It was a big hit enjoyed by all.  She worked for HOURS on it.  The below picture is of her showing it to her cousins and her Uncle Phil.

Peggy asked us to bring a dessert.  Evangeline waisted no time volunteering to bring a cake.  She made a double layer chocolate cake with homemade vanilla buttercream frosting absolutely by herself.  We decided to garnish with sugared cranberries and rosemary leaves.  She pipped the icing around the bottom.  It was all-out stunning.  Baking is definitely a passion of hers and I'm so impressed at what she has learned to do at such a young age.

The kids received special gifts from their Peggy and Reid.  Jed got a piolet's hat and a set of little golf clubs.  Boy, was he excited about having his very own golf clubs in a case!  He felt so grown up.

Evangeline got a beautiful nightlight.

Such a wonderful time filled with love and happiness.....

Everyone is growing up so fast.....

We went for the early Christmas Eve service at church.  It was a candlelight service.  They had battery operated candles for the little ones.  Jed had one.  He was just asking me when he can have a real candle right as he dropped his battery operated candle in the pew in front of us.  It was funny.....I think he immediately knew the answer to his question.
We came home and had little pot pies that I had made that morning.  We watched a movie and got ready for bed.  Of course the kids couldn't sleep....
