Maybe This Time It Will Stick
This is getting ridiculous. I have not write here in almost a year. I've missed it so much and it's been hanging over my head. Just thinking of the memories I've let slip away...Again, technology has been in the way. We got fiberglass internet and my ancient computer will not recognize it, so the task of preparing all the pictures on that computer and then transferring them to my work computer has been so daunting. Taking the time to reflect, journal and look over all of my blessings again and again has always been so therapeutic for me. I feel that it's a part of my life that is so beneficial to my wellbeing. So here I am. I hope I can someday go back and fill in the missing year. Maybe I can even start here and keep up. Maybe I'll be back one year from this post with the same words I'm typing here, but for now, here I am trying it again.
I've still been running a lot. Last weekend I set out for my typical 3 mile run and ended up running 13.11 miles (a half marathon), like a crazy person back and forth down through my subdivision. I have definitely discovered that I like longer endurance runs rather than 5K races. I ran a 5K back in September and got a personal record, but I was in a horrible state physically and thought I was going to vomit at about 2.5 miles. I do not like running fast in a competition style setting. Even though I wasn't trying to win, I always run faster when running in a group even when I don't set out to push myself to the point of near sickness.
Jed is thriving in Kindergarten. He knows all of his letters and sounds and his reading is really taking off, which is such a wonderful thing to witness. He has so many friends. We love to hear about all of his stories from his days at kindergarten. He has recess right outside of my classroom window and I always enjoy peeking out and watching him in his social element. Last week he was awarded Star Student for his classroom, which is given every other month or so. He teacher told him that she picked him because he always keeps his friends. He is such a special person. He is also very hilarious.
Evangeline is also blossoming in the Jr. High. She is such a hard worker. She amazes me each and every day. Over the summer she received a letter from the principal stating that she was selected to be in the Pre Algebra class. She has worked so hard to do well in her studies and even goes out of her way to get extra help from her teachers when she needs it. She was also selected to be in the PAWS club, which is a club selected by teachers and peers that focuses on good deeds and a positive atmosphere at school. She was chosen to be a member of the Student Council, which was based on votes. She also is one of the leaders of the school Bible study group and has also joined a school book club. She ran on the cross country team and really enjoyed it. She is also in both chorus and band too! On Monday nights she has drum practice and on Tuesday nights she takes piano. She is currently in the church confirmation class and is active in her youth group. I seriously could not be more proud of this little girl's drive and accomplishments.
Kyle is our yard man extraordinaire. He is also still enjoying his biking hobby. Back in August he went to Bentonville, AK with some friends on a mountain biking trip. He is planning another trip in the summer to bike 100 miles through Utah with a friend.
So that's where we are right now. Let's see how long I can keep this up.
