It Happened

Wayne and Karen were planning to watch the kids while I had parent/teacher conferences.  I had been feeling crummy that week and had a COVID test which came back negative.  Wayne came to get the kids on Thursday because I had to work late that evening.  I ended up feeling increasingly worse.  Conferences ended up getting canceled due to ice, but the kids were already gone by the time that call was made.  That night I had such a miserable night sleep.  I was so congested to the point that every tooth in my mouth ached, my ears ached and my head ached.  I'd never experienced anything like it.  That morning Kyle read the directions from our COVID tests we just were sent from the government.  Mine was positive immediately.  Kyle took one also, but his came back negative.  I was so worried that the kids might be carrying it and passing it to Wayne and Karen.  They all went out and took tests and all were negative.  They ended u...

Valentine's Day in first grade is always one of my favorite holidays.  The party is so sweet.  The kids are just so full of appreciation as they read the cards from their classmates.  They also love to give me little pictures and tokens of affection.   We received this beautiful arrangement from Wayne and Karen.  The kids also had a special delivery of chocolate and pretzels from them too.  Kyle sent the most beautiful arrangement to me at school.  I just love flowers and they definitely make the holiday so special.  Colleen made adorable cookies for Jed and Evangeline.... Evangeline gets the sweetest holiday cards from her friend Andre.  He also gave her some kettle corn from their mom's kettle corn wagon.... Jed's Valentine box from school was absolutely adorable, but it's definitely scared the daylights out of us a time or two when coming around a corner and not expecting it... I was impressed with the Mine Craft drawing he did on the...

Band Trip

Image
Evangeline's Jr. High pep band ranked in the state so they were asked to play at a boys basketball tournament in Tolono, IL.  They were their for the whole day.  Evangeline was very nervous to take a bus trip and spend the whole day away from home on a Saturday at a school event, but she ended up having such a blast!  They played their songs several times throughout the day, but during their down time they got to play games and eat snacks.  Jed, Kyle and I went to watch for a little bit and we were just so proud of her.  She has become such a good little drummer!  On the way back they stopped at a fast food area in Tuscola and the kids got to walk to the restaurant of their choice.  Evangeline said she felt so responsible to get to do this.  She ordered, paid and even dropped her coin change in the Riley Children's Hospital collection bucket.  It's really a delight to watch her take such pride in doing these things for the first time as she g...

Winter Pastimes...

Evangeline only has art class for 9 weeks this year.  She has of course managed to impress her art teacher with her extraordinary work in that short time.... Here is one of the art projects she brought home.  She had to draw the right side of the face.  Her teacher left this comment on the back side of the project.... One of Jed's school writings Mrs. Reynolds came to share with me.... I've been told 100 times: "sit down in my seat".  Precious Pickles LOVES when the facet is one just a trickle in the morning for him to get a sip from.  He will cry and cry if he is not appeased.... Jed helping me cook dinner...what could go wrong.... Saturday morning clean kitchen....my favorite!  Garland I made from dehydrated oranges.... Making marshmallows with the Queen of the Kitchen....
